His eldest (and favorite) sibling, Francis, boards at military school because his parents believe it will reform him and keep him out of trouble. Malcolm often has a hard time coping with his family life, but he has more troubles to contend with when he starts receiving special treatment at school after being diagnosed as an intellectually advanced genius. Malcolm in the Middle follows a dysfunctional family in an anonymous location. The family is headed by super-stressed supermom Lois, and eccentric child-at-heart Hal. The eldest son, Francis, once a wild youth, now lives on a ranch with his wife, Piama. Next in line is dimwitted ne'r-do-well Reece. Second youngest emerging genius and evil mind in the making Dewey, and baby Jamie, already a troublemaker, is the youngest. Smack in the middle is Malcolm, a moody certified genius who seems to be the only hope his family has. Since his discovery at the age of eleven, Malcolm has been his own worst enemy - though he'll tell you that his family is his worst enemy.
At the military academy, Francis bets fellow cadets that he can eat 100 Quacks(think Peeps), but gets very sick in the process. Meanwhile, Dewey has an adventure going home.

Summary

Malcolm recaps what happened at the Wavetown USA, Water Park. Due to the violations involving both him and Reese fighting and also his parents sneaking in alcohol in a suntan lotion, the Wilkersons are banned for life from there, a tradition they always end up observing. Hal tries to talk the security guard out of it, but he's sent on his way. Lois on the other hand, punishes the boys and tells them never to ask for anything from her again. Then, she tells them that she should've given birth to chimps so that way she could've expected that kind of behavior. Malcolm admits jealousy of Dewey because he got to stay home and play with the babysitter. The scene switches to him in the farm asking the scarecrow for help because he got lost after chasing a balloon and then a paper bag.

On the road home Hal tries to keep the lane for himself while a silver car wants to pass him. Lois tells him to be courteous and let him pass. Hal refuses and hits the brakes angering her. Lois tells him that the owner may have a gun and just let him pass before they get into an accident. He eventually relents, but soon after the same car gets into an accident and the family is stuck for hours.

Elsewhere, Dewey seeks help form a lady whom had found him on her fields to get him home, but he annoys her and she goes into a store to buy cigarettes. Soon after a car jacker steals a car with Dewey inside of it. The car jacker bonds with him for a while before leaving him with a bunch of illegal immigrants.

At Marlin Academy, Francis gets into a heated argument with Eric because of the Quacks expanding. He decides to take up the challenge to prove him wrong by attempting to eat 100 Quacks. Along the way, Francis gets sick and this proves Eric right about the Quacks expanding because they're marshmellows.

Back on the road, Lois is frustrated by by the workers because they're not doing anything to hasten the clean-up from the accident. Reese is in a heated conflict with the ice cream truck owner because he won't give them free ice cream. Malcolm falls in love with Jessica, who ironically is from Canada. Hal feeling guilty about what happened tells a highway patrol officer about it and touches him. The highway officer administers him a DUI(driving under the influence) test and makes Hal say the alphabet backwards while touching is nose.

Dewey gets help from everyone else and finally finds himself home as his family arrives. Lois asks him what happened to Mrs. White. Dewey tells her about the babysitter having to go away, not admitting that she had a heart attack and that the ambulence had to pick her up. Lois is upset and thinks he got rid of another babysitter like Malcolm and Reese did as he continues to tells her of his own adventure.

Trivia

This is the first time Francis makes a bet with the cadets and subsequently loses.

Hal is administered a DUI test for the first time. Jacksondhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12905149727814326003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6707633967937278282.post-56947625117903849502013-09-24T15:01:00.003-07:002013-09-24T15:01:51.116-07:00Water Park is the 16th and final episode of season 1.
Plot

Malcolm and Reese spend the day fighting at a water park; Francis gets into a different kind of pool math with Spangler; and Dewey stays home with an odd babysiter.

Summary

Lois is prepping Hal for a family trip to the water park and unfortunately Dewey can't go because of an ear infection. He's upset about it, while Lois tries to console him and soon mentions that he needs to stop sticking dirty things in his ears. Unfortunately the Wilkersons have a hard time hiring a babysitter for Dewey, due to Malcolm and Reese's countless misbehaving themselves towards their previous babysitters. They eventually manage to hire a stern babysitter named Mrs. White(Beatrice Arthur) and the family is off to the water park.

At Marlin Academy, Spangler is gloating after winning against Francis in a game of pool. However, he soon gets suspicious when he learns that his most rebellious student has been plotting something. Spangler finds out from the local police that Francis has been out at local bars hustling, and is upset that he has been letting him win. He insists that Francis play his best game of pool against him, while his fellow cadets tell him he has to lose so Spangler doesn't get upset. Because if Francis wins, the cadets are going to torture him with hours of educational programing on PBS. They end up in a battle as to who can play a more spectacularly bad game of pool, pulling trick shots to scratch on the eight-ball. Spangler loses, but the cadets end up not caring at the end.

At the water park, Lois and Hal are trying to enjoy a "tropical" vacation, while Malcolm and Reese are at war. Soon they ruin their parents' tropical vacation with their fighting and Lois soon yells at them at the top of the Liquidator water slide. As she continues to yell, Malcolm looks at Reese and encourages him to push her down the slide. He tries to refuse and Lois comes to suspect something is wrong. Sure enough Malcolm pushes her down the slide and Reese tells him that was the bravest thing that he's seen him do. However, Lois whom somehow manages to hold on to something, grabs both the boys and they slide down the water slide together. As she continues yelling at Malcolm and Reese, Lois tells them "This is the last time, I'm taking you boys anywhere." They come out of the slide splashing Hal and everyone else.

At the house, Dewey bonds with Mrs. White and they start enjoying many activities together. After they dance around the kitchen, she has to be taken away in an ambulance, and he goes chasing after a red balloon being carried by the wind and winds up being in lost in a Chinatown. Soon he follows a paper bag being carried by the wind. Hal goes to a car dealership to try and buy a red porsche which he can't decide to buy or not.

Summary

Malcolm, Reese and Dewey are excited that it's Monday for a reason. It was the end of their two month long punishment for giving away the bike to Francis' dead beat vandal friends, Richie, Justin and Circus. Hal tells the boys that before they leave school, they walk in to the room and tell Lois to feel better because she's been sick for the last few days. However, he leaves and they attempt to tell her, but she thinks it's still Sunday and the boys stay home. However, soon enough they get bored, but are scared to go outside because they don't want to be busted for truancy.

On his way to work, Hal gets distracted by a Porsche dealership. He walks in just to look at the car, and gets pounced upon by a salesman who convinces him to look at a brochure. Then the salesman convinces Hal to take the car for a test-drive. He introduces him to the financing guy and the trade-in guy. Finally, he gets Hal to initial a price and works up a whole contract and payment plan.

At the house, Francis calls home and tells the boys that he's worried that Lois will find out about a letter from a college in Southern Alabama involving a prank he did when he drove a back hoe into a swimming pool. The boys agree to hide the letter for a while and he does them a favor by telling them about an owner from the arcade store who doesn't busts truants. Francis also mentions that there's money in the one of the drawers and Lois won't know as long as they take between five and seven dollars. The boys attempt to raid the drawers but a sick Lois catches them and mentions that she hid it in the back of the closet. The boys then forget about the arcade and decides to get to the truth out by asking Lois how she knew about Dewey's bike not really being stolen. She finally tells them that Francis told her everything and it was how she knew the boys were lying.

At the Porche Dealership, the salesman tries to convince Hal to sign on the dotted line, but by this time Hal is freaking out and also not feeling very well. Hal fears he's come down with Lois's flu and breaks for the door, but the saleman cuts him off and convinces him to stick his head in the Porsche one more time and smell the leather and look at the console. Hal stick his head in the Porsche and throws up in it. The salesman has to drive a very ill Hal home.

At the house, Reese is outraged by Francis and wants to give the letter to Lois so she can bust him for what he's done. Malcolm isn't so sure and wants to get his side of the story first. Sure enough Francis calls again and it's confirmed that he did rat his brothers out. Malcolm is furious and tells him that he will give Lois the letter in retaliation to what he did to them. Soon after the boys discuss it amongst themselves wheter or not to give Lois the letter and later decides not to, but pretend they are to scare him. Once again Francis calls home, but he has an ace up his sleeves. Sure enough, his dead beat friends, Richie, Justin and Circus shows up to find the letter. Malcolm hides it in the VCR and tells Reese. Francis tells Richie to watch Reese's eyes, and of course Reese entirely gives away where the letter is hidden. Francis's friends ride off on their bikes triumphant with the letter. Then Malcolm tells Reese that that was a fake letter, and he knew Francis wouldn't give up until his friends had the letter, and that Reese would give it away, so he told Reese where the fake letter was and actually gave the real letter to Dewey, which is the last thing anyone would expect. Dewey proudly announces that he hid it under mom's pillow. Malcolm freaks out as a sick Lois awakens in her room shocked while reading the letter.

In the bedroom, she's furious with what Francis has done to the college's swimming pool. Reese tries to distract her by thinking it's a dream, but she doesn't buy it and tells him to shut up. Malcolm reminds Lois to rest up because she's sick, but she tells him that she's too angry to be sick. She tells them that Francis has really outdone himself this time and will send him away to a work farm in Arizona. She later leaves to throw up in the bathroom. Malcolm calls Franics to apologize about what happened and that he, Reese and Dewey had no intentions of showing the letter to Lois and it was accidental. He understands and tells them that he's sorry for ratting them out, but she was pressuring him to tell her the truth if he wanted to come home for the summer. Now his younger brothers feel really awful, and try to think of a way to save Francis's hide. Malcolm decides if they get into a whole lot of trouble, their mother will be so busy being mad at them that she won't remember to be mad at Francis. They take all their parents' prized possessions up onto the roof of the house and put them in a wheeled cart. They roll the cart off the roof into the driveway... just as the salesman is pulling up to the house in the Porsche with their very sick father. Lois soon discovers them playing with the steam cleaner and punishes them.

At home, Hal talks with Dewey after finding him in his usual hiding place. He tells his father that he's upset with both Reese and Malcolm for forbidding him from letting him play with the steam cleaner and stole something from Lucky Aide. It isn't long until Hal and Lois learns that Dewey stole an expensive bottle of cognac. He apologizes for his actions, but she still makes him return the bottle and apologize to Mr. Pinter. When Hal eats rotten peaches, Lois is forced to beg for her job back when she learns about the expensive bill at the hospital. There, she confronts Mr. Pinter and says some strange and bad things that he's done, which humiliates him. Lois tells him that he should be grateful because she's the only one who knows this much about him and that someone else would sell him out. This later proves to be true when Craig and the other co-workers overheard Mr. Pinter's secret now intends to tell the district manager, which causes him to quit immediately to avoid humiliation. Ultimately, Lois finds her life back to normal and now Malcolm is not "poor," and tells that to Julie straight in her face. Malcolm has snuck in a picture of Fancis so he wouldn't be left out, but he and Reese begins fighting in who gets to hold the picture. When he goes in the closet to get a snack, he finds Finley hiding in there. He tells Francis that he's been marked by a cult known as "The Brothers of the Apocalypse". He thinks Finley is being ridiculous because to him it's just a couple of seniors with limited to no imaginations. He tells Francis that's easy for him to say that because he has Stanley protecting him and isn't holding a doll head called "Poqito Cabesa". Finley refuses to come out of hiding and asks him to turn in his math homeowrk for him. Soon the senior cult arrive to get him as Francis and Stanley talk about them.

At the house, Reese really wants to stay up late and watch a horror movie, but his mother challenges him to an arm-wrestle to prove that he's old enough to extend his bedtime. Lois then decides to put Reese to the test and if he can give Dewey his bath and put him to bed, he can stay up late to watch a scary movie. Hal and Lois giggle at the impossible task that Reese now has, and decide to enjoy the little bit of alone time they'll have while their elder son struggles with their youngest.

At Marlin Academy, Stanley has just left to be with his dying grandmother and soon Francis is marked by senior classmen. At first, he's scared, but comes to find their ways of torture amateurish. Francis then tells them about the kinds of torture Lois put him through. However, he's so focused on the task at hand that he doesn't busts them outside the Kenarban house and gives Stevie some spare change and heads home. As they were coming closer to his house, Stevie Stevie says he's never been in trouble and is sort of looking forward to it. Malcolm is just hoping they don't get caught. Soon Stevie is a little horrified when he sees the many police cars pulled up at his house and Malcolm just disappears (possibly afriad of being busted by the cops and getting berated by Lois).
